At Siddhi Memorial Hospital (SMH), we are deeply committed to ensuring the health and well-being of every newborn. One of the key components of our neonatal care is our Human Milk Storage Program, which aims to ensure that every baby born at SMH receives breast milk as their first feed, especially in cases where there may be delays in milk production.

We understand that preterm births and caesarean section deliveries often result in delayed milk production, which can affect a mother’s ability to breastfeed her newborn immediately. To address this, we have established a comprehensive milk storage system that ensures babies receive the nutritional and immune benefits of breast milk from day one.

The process begins with obtaining consent from donor mothers. Following strict protocols, we collect expressed breast milk from mothers who are willing to donate, ensuring that all donations are safe and meet the highest standards. Once collected, the milk is stored in a freezer, adhering to established guidelines for safe handling and storage.

When a newborn is in need, whether due to the mother’s delayed milk production or other factors, we provide the stored donor breast milk with consent, ensuring that each baby gets the best possible start in life.

This program highlights our commitment to promoting breastfeeding, especially in challenging circumstances, and ensuring that no baby at SMH misses out on the critical benefits of breast milk. By following rigorous protocols and prioritizing safety and quality, we are proud to offer this essential service as part of our ongoing dedication to maternal and infant health.

At Siddhi Memorial Hospital (SMH), being a pediatric-focused institution, we prioritize the health and well-being of both mothers and babies. One of our core initiatives is the Breastfeeding Rounds, a vital program designed to support and educate new mothers on the importance of breastfeeding.

Following every delivery at SMH, our dedicated team conducts personalized Breastfeeding Rounds with each mother. During these rounds, we provide hands-on guidance, teaching mothers the correct breastfeeding techniques and offering encouragement to help them establish a strong and healthy breastfeeding routine.

Breastfeeding is fundamental for the newborn’s growth, immune system, and overall development. Our goal is to ensure that every mother feels confident and well-informed about breastfeeding, enabling them to provide the best start for their child.

Our teams of pediatric and maternity nurses well trained in breast feeding are available to assist mothers, answer questions, and offer solutions to any challenges they may face. We believe that by empowering mothers with the knowledge and skills needed for successful breastfeeding, we are laying the foundation for a healthier future for both mother and child.

At SMH, we continue to advocate for breastfeeding as a key part of maternal and child health, and we remain committed to supporting every mother in her breastfeeding journey.

Since Magh to Chaitra 2081, Siddhi Memorial Hospital (SMH) has been unwavering in its commitment to women’s health with the launch of a VIA Screening Campaign in collaboration with various local cooperative institutions.
