Promoting Health Awareness: Siddhi Memorial Foundation’s School Health Programme in Bhaktapur
Siddhi Memorial Foundation is dedicated to promoting health awareness and well-being among school children in Bhaktapur through its comprehensive School Health Programme. This initiative is designed to empower students, teachers, and the broader community by providing valuable education and support on key health issues.
The main objectives of the programme include:
- Promoting Menstrual Hygiene Awareness: One of the core components of the programme is raising awareness about menstrual hygiene among students, especially girls. The Foundation conducts workshops and educational sessions, providing essential information on maintaining menstrual health, understanding hygiene practices, and breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation. This helps ensure that girls are better prepared and informed to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence.
- Nutrition Education: The Foundation focuses on educating students and teachers about the importance of proper nutrition for overall health and well-being. Through interactive sessions, the programme emphasizes balanced diets, the nutritional needs of growing children, and practical tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This contributes to improving the nutritional status of children, especially in communities where malnutrition may be prevalent.
- First Aid Management Training for Teachers: Teachers are often the first responders in situations of injury or illness in school settings. The School Health Programme includes specialized training for teachers in basic first aid management, empowering them to handle emergencies effectively and confidently. This training equips educators with essential life-saving skills that can make a crucial difference in the well-being of students.
- Health Camps: To extend its reach and provide direct medical support, the Siddhi Memorial Foundation organizes health camps on a regular basis. These camps focus on critical health areas such as nutrition, eye care, and ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) issues. Local healthcare professionals and specialists offer free consultations, health screenings, and advice, ensuring that students and their families have access to essential healthcare services.
By implementing these programmes, Siddhi Memorial Foundation aims to create a healthier, more informed generation of students in Bhaktapur. The Foundation’s efforts are making a lasting impact on the health and well-being of both students and teachers, fostering a community of care and knowledge that extends beyond the classroom.
